The City

Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, is a city located in the center of the country at 2,600 mt. SNM. With almost ten million inhabitants, is the largest political, economic and cultural center as well as a major business and commercial hub in Latin America. It has a wide range of universities, cultural centers and libraries, convention centers, hotels, shopping areas and city parks. More than a city, Bogotá is a region comprising several municipalities in the Capital District. Rural areas are characterized by savannah landscapes, gastronomy and places for sports and other activities.

The Weather

Because of its high altitude, Bogota has a moderate climate; by its low latitude has a little temperature variation throughout the year. Temperatures regularly range between 6 and 24° C, with an annual average of 15° C.

The rains are abundant from March to May and October to November, coinciding almost with the equinoxes in spring and autumn in the northern hemisphere, respectively, because the sun crosses the equator and the solar radiation is greater, increasing the heat jungle and favoring the formation of storms in the mountainous area.

In contrast, the drier seasons of the year are from January to February and July to August. Fog is the most common hydrometeor: Bogota has 220 foggy days per year. (Wikipedia, S. F.)

Note that in Bogota weather is somewhat unpredictable: sunny mornings and rainy afternoons or gray dawns and sunny days. In the capital of Colombia, the umbrella will always be a must-have item.
